Publishing Ethics

Rights and Responsibilities of Publishing 


  All institutions and individuals involved in publishing the journal, including publishing institutions, authors, reviewers, editors and readers, have unshirkable responsibilities. All relevant individuals should carry out their duties, and follow the most rigorous scientific principles and evaluation criteria in order to achieve a high level of quality for the journal with strict auditing.

  As a peer-reviewed journal, Water Treatment Technology tends to focus on academic performance and innovation; maintain academic integrity while resisting academic misconduct; improve the team of editors and reviewers, and abide by the professional ethics of publishing.


Editor’s Responsibility

1.1 The editors shall, in accordance with the purpose and requirement of Water Treatment Technology, evaluate manuscripts objectively and impartially (including inviting peer experts to review), and handle each manuscript in a fair, impartial and timely manner. The decisions to accept or reject a paper is based on its importance, originality, science, readability, authenticity and the relevance to the journal. Revisions should be proposed, so as to select high qualified papers that meet the requirements for publication.

1.2 The editors shall reasonably use the "Academic Misconduct Detection System for the Literature" and other tools to screen and test manuscripts, in order to avoid possible academic misconduct in editing and publishing. Editors have a responsibility to avoid academic misconduct such as multiple submissions and repeated publications.

1.3 Editors shall not interfere with peer review due to interests, and shall ensure independent review by peer experts for fairness.。

1.4 For a published paper, once it is found that there is academic misconduct, the editorial department will issue a statement to revoke the publication of the paper on the journal or the website of the journal, delete the data of the paper in the relevant database, terminate the dissemination of the paper, so as to eliminate the harmful effects.

1.5 For the peer reviewers recommended by the author, the editors shall verify the authenticity of the reviewer’s information, and decide whether to use the recommended reviewer based on not only his/her research field or expertise but also the common interests with the author. If the author requests to be excused from the review of his manuscript by some expert, and this request is reasonable, the editor shall respect it.

1.6 Editors should try to avoid the situation that the reviewer works in the same unit with the author, or the reviewer is just the author; The editor shall ensure the confidentiality and impartiality of all peer reviewers and the work, and shall communicate the reviews to the author objectively and impartially.

1.7 The editor should treat the author's complaints and appeals with caution, and organize collective discussion or ask review experts to review again. The editor shall ensure that the academic research and review process is fair and transparent, and make timely corrections when necessary.

1.8 In the process of editing or proofreading, if plagiarism is found in the submitted articles, such articles shall be rejected; If fraud is found, the editorial department of this journal will also reject the manuscript, and publish a document misconduct notice and notify the author's scientific research institution.


Author's responsibility

2.1 Authors should ensure that the submitted content is authentic and trustworthy, and complies with the relevant regulations and policies of China.

2.2 When submitting the paper, the author must make a commitment that the submitted paper is free of academic misconduct (such as over-submission, repeated publication, false attribution, plagiarism, falsification, false annotation, citing others' work without attribution, etc.).

2.3 The author shall guarantee the authenticity of the manuscript content (data, author information), no manuscripts, no confidentiality issues, no disputes over attribution, etc.

2.4 In principle, the authors' bylines should be ordered by their contribution or by their agreement, and the order shall be determined at the time of submission. We resolutely resist the attribution of non-substantive academic contributors to papers. Once hired, the first author cannot be changed.。

2.5 Authors should declare whether there is a conflict of interest at the time of submission. If there is any, all financial interests that may have an impact on the results of their research should be indicated. Any potential conflict of interest must be explicitly acknowledged. After the manuscript is accepted, all authors should sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement.

2.6 If the author has any objection to the review opinions and results, he/she may submit a written statement to the editorial department to give a detailed explanation and explanation for each review opinion.

2.7 The manuscript should not be published elsewhere at the same time or submitted to any other journal. If found, the manuscript that have been accepted or are being reviewed or edited will be rejected; the published articles will be directly retracted.

2.8 For a published article that needs to be revised due to serious errors, the author can submit an application for revision to the editorial department and list the reasons for the revision in detail. After review by the editorial department, the author can decide whether to conduct an erratum or other corrections.


Reviewer’s Responsibility

3.1 Review experts shall adhere to the principles of fairness, impartiality, confidentiality and timeliness to make responsible comments on manuscripts. Reviewers shall explain whether the content of the article meets the requirements of Water Treatment Technology, whether it is original and scientific; Reviewers shall also keep the entire review confidential. It is not allowed to prejudice or discriminate against the author's scientific research institution, region, qualifications, ethnicity, etc., and it is not allowed to disclose the author's research.

3.2 In order to ensure the impartiality of the review, the reviewer shall declare the conflict of interest to the editorial department in time when there is any between the reviewer and the author. The editorial department shall decide whether to dodge the conflict.

3.3 When the reviewer finds that the author is engaged in research similar to his/her own, he/she shall not take the advantage of the position to suppress or belittle the author's paper.

3.4 The reviewer shall review the manuscript in time according to the agreement. If the reviewer fails to return on time, he/she shall inform the editorial department in time and withdraw the review with the reasons. Other recommended reviewers are welcome.

3.5 In the process of review, if the reviewer finds plagiarism in the submitted article, he/she shall directly inform the editorial department to reject the manuscript.


About advertising

4.1 Publishing advertisement: We will only consider advertisements with related content to the journal. We will strictly abide by the relevant provisions of the Advertising Law of the People's Republic of China and subscribe to written contracts in accordance with the law to clarify the rights and obligations of all parties. All advertisements will be collectively discussed and decided at the working meeting of the editorial department or editorial board.

4.2 Advertisements shall be true, legal and conform to the socialist cultural-ethical standards.

4.3 The editorial department declares that advertisements are not related in any way to editorial decisions. and the advertisements are mainly published on the front and back cover or the insert of the journal, separated from the academic papers.
